Stony and Iron Meteorites

Composed primarily of iron and nickel, iron meteorites were formed in the core of certain planets or large asteroids. Stone meteorites, the most abundant type of meteorite, made up the crust of bodies within the asteroid belt between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter.
